Xiang Xing - Debate

Working to develop skills associated with evidence-based argumentation, The 8th grade science class recently participated in a scholastic mock trial.  The prosecution and the defense argued points based on recent headlines associated with an undergrad who refused to write a paper that conflicted with her convictions and beliefs.  Faced with a university's decision to withhold permission to graduate, the student stood by her decision.   She did turn in an alternative argument associated with the assignment.  What would you do?
