Cresset’s Theatrical Season

Each season begins with a fall straight play, chosen for the numbers and diversity of our upper school students in grades 6-12. The straight plays are held off-campus in an equity black box theater and allow the students to stretch their wings in their creation of a character and presentation to an audience in an intimate playing space. We’ve been excited to produce shows such as Charlotte’s Web, Arsenic and Old Lace, and Alice@Wonderland.

In the spring we produce an all-school musical, encouraging all students K-12 to participate in this challenging medium of dance, song, and acting. Most of our productions are Broadway’s finest musical hits especially chosen for their themes and classic dramatic moral messages. Cresset’s productions have ranged the gamut from the exciting and technically challenging Peter Pan, to the deep themes of Beauty and the Beast, to the operetta Les Miserables. Other outstanding productions have included The King and I, The Wizard of Oz, Oklahoma!, The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins and Shrek.
