...every nation, every tribe...

Shortly after 1:00 PM on Thursday, August 17th, 39 students, school leadership, and chaperones departed for Fincastle, Virginia.  On Sunday, August 21st they returned, tired yet filled from a number of experiences.  The students enjoyed free-time activities such as swimming, water-sliding, "getting blobbed," zip-lining, basketball, card-playing, bonfires, and more.  Outside of free-time, Cresset's students attended sessions where the speaker, Steve Bowen, talked about and encouraged conversations associated with leadership.  Students were asked about whether they were a mirror (self-centered) or a window (someone who saw the needs of others).  While many acknowledged a focus on their own reflections, they also acknowledged they were a little bit of both.  It was evident from the time with Steve and with each other that they were thinking about the idea of leadership and what it required.

Our students are learning that to lead one must be ready.  Our Inaugural Christian Leadership Retreat was a step in their preparation.   As each student seeks to lead, our hope is that they reflect our Great Shepherd and impact their school and local community in the process of their own growth.

Isaiah 41: 10 states, "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

Matthew 20:26 says, "Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant..."
