Mr. Parsons serves as Upper School Principal and Athletic Director.  He has twenty years of experience in Christian education serving in many roles including teacher, coach, Guidance Counselor, Athletic Director, District Coordinator, and Upper School Principal.  This is his fifth year at Cresset Christian Academy.

 Education:

Mr. Parsons received a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Education from Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri.  He also has a Masters of Science in Counseling from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas, and a Masters of Education in Educational Psychology from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan.  Mr. Parsons has completed further graduate studies at the University of Maine, and is currently working on a doctorate in Christian Administration through Trinity Seminary.

 Experience:

In 1977, Mr. Parsons began his classroom teaching career in Newfoundland, Canada.  He taught for five years and then accepted the position of Religious Education, Guidance and Family Life Education Coordinator for his school district.  While overseeing these programs in the district's forty-three schools, Mr. Parsons wrote curriculum guides for Bible Study and Family Life Education, conducted teacher observations, provided in-service for teachers, administrators, pastors, and parents.  He supervised the district's testing program.  Mr. Parsons has served on many District and Provincial Committees, and was President of the BREMCO branch of the Newfoundland Teachers' Association from 1979-1981.

Mr. Parsons has been very active in coaching during his professional career at the high school and college level.  In 1988 and 1989, his basketball teams won Provincial Championships during his coaching tenure in Canada.  In 1990, he coached the Provincial 18 and under team in the Canadian Junior National Championships.  During his coaching career in the US, Mr. Parsons' basketball teams in Utah and North Carolina have won four conference titles and made two final four and two elite eight state tournament appearances.  Mr. Parsons was named Utah Women's Basketball Association Coach of the Year in 2002.  Mr. Parsons also coached the Cresset Lady Eagles' Volleyball team for two years.  In 2002 and 2003 the Lady Eagles won the NCISAA State Tournament.  In 2003 they won the NACA National Tournament and Mr. Parsons was named NACA National Volleyball Coach of the Year.  While coaching cross country and track, Mr. Parsons' team won conference championships in 2001 and 2002.  In 2001, his Cross Country team finished as Utah state runner-up.  In 2003 he assisted as Cresset's team won the NCISAA State Meet.  Mr. Parsons' teams have produced ten all-state athletes and several Division I college athletes.

Mr. Parsons has also conducted seminars in marriage enrichment, family relationship building, stress management, and team building.  He has also spoken at several youth and family retreats.  Mr. Parsons served as Christian Education Director at the Oswego Alliance Church in New York.  For many years Mr. Parsons provided marriage and family counseling in a variety of settings.

Mission:

Mr. Parsons is passionate about Christian education.  The Great Commission mandates disciple making in all nations.  His vision is to facilitate disciple making through Christian education.  Mr. Parsons recognizes that students can be greatly impacted by a committed group of Christian educators working together as a team.
